Triton were successfully appointed to undertake five individual phases of work at the Old Admiralty Building.
Ingram Consultancy oversaw all masonry work during the three-phase external restoration of this remarkable Grade II listed building. Triton were responsible for the cleaning of the Portland stone and gauged brick façade, followed by extensive repairs using matching bricks and stones where necessary.
The team encountered structural defects such as rusting steelwork to the north tower and inadequate weathering detail to the cornice, which led to saturation and discoloration of the stone. To prevent this, Triton revised the backfall detail to help direct water away from the façade. The copper finials and other roofing details were also in disrepair, requiring a complete overhaul. Triton dismantled and removed them for redressing of the copper sheeting.
