Designed in 1958 by Bryan and Norman Westwood, the Congress Theatre in Eastbourne is a Grade II* listed modernist theatre that hosts touring West End Theatre, Ballet, Opera, Comedy, and Live Music.
The works included the removal and replacement of existing concrete panels, removal and replacement of the secondary mullions and transoms, replacement of the windows with the new improved glazing, impressed cathodic protection, new natural slate cladding, and ancillary repairs to various retained concrete element of the building. All repair works were carried out sympathetically in order to retain the structural integrity of this building.
Using cutting edge technologies and materials, we replicated the original materials, all while collaborating with English Heritage, the council, and the theatre.
In recognition of our detailed and collaborative approach, we proudly received the RICS Schueco Excellence Award in 2016 in the Refurbishment Category.
