Triton have completed seven phases of conservation, cleaning and restoration of the Portland stone facades of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, including the following elevations: Central Courtyard, King Charles Street, Downing Street, Whitehall.

The Grade I listed buildings, designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott in 1861, are notable for the variations in each façade.

All works were carried out to a conservation grade specification that is broadly similar for each phase. Triton poultices were used to remove existing ‘browning out’ stains, with the DOFF system and fine nebulous sprays used for all stone cleaning. All repairs to the statuary were undertaken by our conservators, including the regrouting of fractures and the removal of anti-bird gel.
