Triton were appointed to undertake the external cleaning, repairs, maintenance, and redecoration of Coin House for The Prudential Assurance Company.
The original scope of the works were completed in December 2008. However, during the course of these works, structural investigations were carried out to ascertain the condition of the steel frame. The results of the investigation discovered that the building suffered from what is commonly known as Regent’s Street Disease. The expansion of the steel work caused the external cladding to fracture and fail in several locations.
Once the steel was exposed, a needle gun was used to take off loose and flaking material back to solid metal. A two part rust treatment paint was applied to the steel, prior to the new faience blocks being reinstated.
