Triton were appointed to carry out external restoration works to Welbeck House, positioned on the corner of Welbeck Street and Wigmore Street, close to Oxford Street. The building’s busy central London location, together with its mix of residential, retail and commercial tenants, required careful planning and close coordination throughout the project.
The works included stone cleaning, masonry repairs, roof repairs to slate and asphalt areas, metalwork and joinery repairs, along with liquid plastic waterproofing to the parapet gutters. The entrance portico and granite columns were also carefully cleaned using mild detergent, helping to improve the appearance of the frontage while respecting the character of the building.
A key challenge was the presence of a basement vault beneath the pavement, which required a carefully designed scaffold solution with back propping in the basement area. Triton worked closely with Bell and Croyden Pharmacy to maintain access and minimise disruption, while clear signage was kept in place so surrounding businesses could continue operating as usual.
