Set in a prime West End location, with tourists passing 24 hours a day, special attention was given to the protection of the public and business tenants, whilst completing this project for the Standard Life Assurance Company and NB Real Estate.

A significant proportion of the scaffolding was erected and other works carried out outside of normal working hours, to minimise potential disruption.

An initial inspection revealed that the stonework was generally in good condition. The majority of the repairs involved repointing of open joints, with minimal stone replacement in isolated areas.

The works entailed stone cleaning, with fine nebulous water sprays, masonry repairs, redecoration, minor roofing works and the complete refurbishment of the bronze shop front surrounds.

The roof level works comprised redecoration of the handrails and the application of a solar reflective paint. This paint will help to maintain the condition of the asphalt coating and extend its life for many years to come.
