Having successfully completed their first £220k contract for the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, Triton were appointed for the second consecutive year to undertake a full external refurbishment and re-decoration contract. In total, works have been completed to 15 listed properties in New Square and Old Buildings.
The buildings, some of which date back to the 16th century, serve as a base for the training and administrative headquarters for the legal profession working in the area. It is a busy working environment, of a highly sensitive nature and all works were required to be carried out with minimal disruption to the occupants and with particular attention given to Health and Safety issues.
With tight contract programmes to adhere to and several diverse building trades involved in carrying out the works, the same Site Manager ensured that work was all completed safely, within budget and on time. Although no element of the building required major restoration work, Triton were able to demonstrate a variety of practical skills, including stone cleaning, brick replacement in large and isolated areas, re-pointing and rendering. At roof level, Welsh grey slates and clay tiles were both re-fixed and replaced and all lead flashings renewed where necessary.
The sliding sash windows were completely overhauled, with paint burned off and defective timbers renewed or repaired with the Window Care system before being re-decorated with Dulux Weathershield, in accordance with the practice of the Dulux Trade Contract Partnership, of which Triton is a member.
