Nuffield House
40-46 Piccadilly, London W1

Triton were appointed as Main Contractor to undertake the external refurbishment of the headquarters building of Norwich Union on Piccadilly.

The entire building was fully occupied throughout the contract and special protection measures were required to ensure the safety of pedestrians.

The programme of works had to be tailored to meet the individual requirements of each of the tenants and, working closely with the site based Norwich Union project manager, the contract was successfully completed with minimal disruption to the occupants and without delay to the contract period.

Specialist works included stone and brick cleaning. Water cleaning was used for the elevations and the JOS air abrasive system at high level to remove cement slurry. Stone repairs on this occasion were minimal and limited to the indenting of badly weathered details to the cornice and occasional ashlar blocks using Portland Stone.

Works to the roof comprised the complete replacement of over 300m² of asphalt, the overhaul of Westmoreland green slates, leadwork and the refurbishment of rainwater goods. To the elevations, all timber windows were renovated, the metal balconies repaired and, to complete, all previously painted surfaces redecorated.
