South Audley Street, London W1
Set right in the heart of Mayfair, on the site of the original 1748 mansion by Isaac Ware, Chesterfield House is one of London's most desirable residential locations.
As Main Contractor, Triton have now completed all three phases of the external refurbishment of the complex, the annex block and 2No ten storey east and west elevations, front and rear, and fire escapes to both blocks. Restricting the use of chemicals to the severely blackened pantiled Mansard roof, the brick and artificial stonework to all elevations was water cleaned. Restoration work included the re-pointing of defective brickwork and in-situ mortar repairs to stone details as required.
The flat roof to the annex and west blocks had all defective asphalt coverings removed and renewed in accordance with Permanite requirements (to achieve their 10 year guarantee). In addition to the above, all existing lead flashings were replaced with new as necessary.
A full survey of the casement and French windows was undertaken and all defective sections renewed in Oak. Upon completion of restoration and joinery works a full redecoration programme commenced and was undertaken under the strict supervison of ICI Dulux in accordance with our Trade Contract Partnership scheme.
Although a relatively straight forward restoration contract, particular attention was given to liaison with the Building Manager, the on site maintenance staff, the porters and the leaseholders. This involved the production of a weekly newsletter distributed to all affected leaseholders, which kept them fully informed of contract progress and ongoing works.
